Data Centre and Cloud Computing, a most fitting pairing.
Yes, because ITDM, an IT company that has been operating nationally and internationally for ten years, has acquired a stake in VMEngine, the only company dealing with Cloud Computing in southern Italy, as well as one of the first Italian companies to become a consulting partner of Amazon Web Services and a co-founder of the EuroCloud association.
“We need to move fast”, said Werner Vogels, CTO of the world’s most important Cloud provider, at the AWS global summit in Milan. And this is precisely the philosophy that ITDM has pursued from its foundation to the present day. Far-sightedness is the watchword.
“This is the natural completion of our activities. Many ITDM customers are moving towards Cloud Computing, Enel being one example. It is unthinkable that a player in the IT sector would fail to consider the great opportunities of Cloud Computing and remain anchored to prejudices about data security”.
These are the words of ITDM’s CEO, Stefano Cavaliero, who has turned his technical expertise and managerial vocation into a clear vision of new business opportunities.
Fabio Veronese, Head of ICT Architectures and Technologies at Enel, explained the challenge of digital transformation:
“After two years of heated discussion – he explained – , thanks to the AWS Cloud, we chose to use the facilities in both infrastructures and to govern them internally, moving 75% of the entire infrastructure out in nine months.
In figures: from September 2015 to date, with an average of 25 servers a day, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays included, around 6,000 of the 10,000 servers in total have been migrated”.
The relationship between ITDM and VMEngine is therefore a synergy from which both companies will benefit, with the sole aim of growing their business and becoming leading players at national and international level.
Indeed, thanks to this strategic stake, ITDM will be able to establish a presence in a fast-growing market that is still unexplored in Italy. VMEngine, for its part, will leverage ITDM’s commercial and financial strength, benefiting from the support of ITDM’s entire staff, who have for years been engaged in managing the infrastructure of Italy’s largest data centres.
“We are already seeing the first benefits – says Fabio Cecaro, CEO of VMEngine and Cloud Evangelist – recently our responsibilities had been growing steadily and we at VMEngine could not bear the weight of this development on our own. ITDM’s invitation came at the right time, allowing us to support the company’s growth with adequate resources”.
All that remains is to raise a glass to the opportunities that the world of Cloud Computing has in store.
