OpenShift Platform Plus is designed to address all the main security needs of almost any application, offering greater assurance and extending security and compliance with tools, capabilities and policies as a default standard out of the box.
Red Hat: Discovering the OpenShift Platform Plus Kubernetes platform.
OpenShift Platform Plus provides multiple layers of security, manageability and automation that work across infrastructures to drive greater consistency throughout the software supply chain and the workloads running on it.
By including Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Kubernetes, OpenShift Platform Plus allows users to apply consistent operational policies for security, configuration, compliance and governance to multi-cluster Kubernetes environments spanning on-premise and cloud infrastructures.

With the addition of Red Hat Quay, OpenShift Platform Plus provides a global container registry with strong security capabilities for a consistent, validated build pipeline that spans infrastructures.
Red Hat OpenShift is the leading enterprise Kubernetes platform trusted by companies around the world. Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus builds on Red Hat OpenShift and provides advanced security for DevSecOps.
You can build, deploy, run and manage intelligent applications securely at scale.
With multiple layers of built-in security, manageability and automation, the platform helps you drive the adoption of DevSecOps and accelerate application innovation in the Hybrid Cloud.
Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus is your enterprise Kubernetes system for migrating existing workloads to the cloud or creating new digital user experiences from the data centre to the cloud and out to the edge.
Business leaders can deliver exceptional experiences without compromising on quality or security. Development teams can build with speed, agility, security and a choice of languages, tools and frameworks.
IT operations and security teams can support every application across infrastructures and clouds with comprehensive security that improves developer productivity while minimising risk.
What are the benefits?
Red Hat facilitates the integration of new and existing applications and the development of cloud-native applications, enables standardisation on one of the leading enterprise operating systems, and makes it possible to automate and manage complex environments securely.
Why use it?
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes transforms the way cloud-native workloads are protected, expanding and refining Kubernetes’ native controls so that they extend beyond the platform itself.
Users must be able to monitor running workloads for security issues or threats.
Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes provides in-depth system-level data collection and analysis, as well as more than 60 out-of-the-box security policies that can be applied and enforced from the moment apps are built to when they are deployed and run.
In addition, Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus helps organisations “shift left” by applying a DevSecOps approach to security, thanks to the integration of declarative security into developer tools and workflows.
This approach ensures greater security for the software stack and throughout the life of a cloud-native application, from the build and CI/CD phase through to production.
Red Hat OpenShift already has a broad set of built-in security features for every Kubernetes cluster and builds on the security that distinguishes Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
However, organisations often have to meet specific security and compliance requirements that may vary by industry or by individual application.

“Kubernetes and the use of containers in production are increasing, so we need the tools and strategies that manage and protect these deployments to grow and evolve in the same way.
Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus further extends the already robust capabilities of OpenShift to provide the security, oversight and governance that organisations need to build, run and manage applications more securely and consistently, at scale across the hybrid cloud”. These were the words of Ashesh Badani, senior vice president, Cloud Platforms, Red Hat.
The open hybrid cloud strategy for businesses
Alongside the reaffirmed strategy centred on Open Hybrid Cloud as the main route for designing and building the fast, stable and scalable applications that companies need for their digital evolution, Summit 2021 also served to update the product range.
Starting with OpenShift Platform Plus, the new version of the Kubernetes platform, which brings together everything needed to create, deploy and run almost any application, with the addition of features aimed at providing better visibility into the behaviour of containers, identifying any vulnerabilities, checking their compliance with audit standards, segmenting the network more easily and identifying potential threats.

OpenShift is therefore now available in three versions: Kubernetes Engine, for running containers; Container Platform, which includes additional development tools from a DevSecOps perspective; and now the version bearing the Plus label.
Not to mention OpenShift Dedicated, which runs on AWS and Google Cloud. On this front, Red Hat presented OpenShift Streams for Apache Kafka, to facilitate data integration, as well as OpenShift API Management and Data Science.
Prospects for the Italian market
What has been presented at global level seems to fit the current Italian technology scenario almost perfectly too: “After the decline in 2020, the indicators are recovering”, noted Rodolfo Falcone, country manager of Red Hat Italia.
“The cloud segment is forecast to grow by more than 20% this year, and figures that are not too different also apply to artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies”.
As for many other players in the IT world, high expectations are pinned on the more than €40 billion that the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) has allocated to digitalisation and innovation. Red Hat has reorganised itself to cover directly two of the three segments into which it has divided the national market, namely Enterprise (made up of around one hundred companies) and Emerging (a further five hundred organisations), delegating everything else to partners: “Interest in our proposition remains high, as shown by the collaborations we have launched with Snam on edge computing, with Dab Pumps on Open Hybrid Cloud technologies and with Alpitour as part of their digital transformation plan”, stressed Falcone.
“We also pay great attention to building the skills needed to support transformation processes, and for this reason we use our open source technologies to support the innovation of Crui and its member universities, but we also offer free courses, with skills that can be used on the job market, for people who are out of work and want to retrain”.
