“Organisations need multi-layered threat defence that works seamlessly across the whole company, to deal with threats before, during and after an attack. Considering our relationship with both HP and TippingPoint, we are excited about the agility of this acquisition and the value it will create for our customers”. Eva Chen, CEO of Trend Micro.
Hp TippingPoint, the division of the Californian company that deals with network security by providing intrusion prevention systems, has a new owner: Trend Micro.
The Japanese company, which specialises in Cloud security, has announced the signing of an agreement with Hp for the acquisition, worth around 300 million dollars. Trend Micro will combine its current threat defence capabilities for endpoints, data centres and networks with those acquired from Hp, managing a network of over 3,500 enterprise customers.
Trend Micro and TippingPoint had already signed a strategic partnership in 2014. The Japanese giant and HP will nevertheless continue to work in tandem in various areas, from OEM activities to App security and data security.
